Lucy (she/her) is an adult transplant to the state, after growing up in the southwest and exploring the Pacific Northwest and the south. Her lifestyle matches the casual, natural, and small town resonance of Maine. She has experience and training in the martial and spiritual way of Japanese traditional martial arts, which is part of her cultural ancestry. She received her 200h yoga teacher certification from MaineYogaFest School of Yoga in vinyasa flow and yin yoga styles. Lucy has a background in the sciences, and has a doctorate in cell and molecular biology. She is a scientist in her day job, leading a biomedical research program and overseeing research training and education programs. She finds joy and challenge in her roles as an academic educator and mentor, facilitator of self-protection programs for women and girls, mother of adult children, and as a yoga instructor. She is a lifelong learner, and studied in the 300h YTT program at the Portland Yoga Project. Her goals in practicing and teaching yoga are to cultivate a sustainable, rigorous, and balancing path towards self-awareness. She seeks to discover and guide the integration of physical, mental, and emotional strength within herself and her students in a functional way to enhance daily living. She welcomes diversity of experiences and perspectives as a way to build a stronger community and to reflect the best within each of us.
