EMMA NEWMANN
VINYASA
Emma (she/her) completed her 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training at the Portland Yoga Project after moving from New York City to Portland in January 2025. Yoga has been a steady and anchoring part of her life since she was a teenager, shaping the way she understands both her body and her inner world. With a professional background in social work, experiential education, and wilderness therapy, Emma approaches teaching through the lens of whole-person wellbeing and the belief that movement can open the door to deeper personal insight.
In her classes, Emma creates a steady, calming atmosphere that encourages students to move with intention and to meet themselves exactly where they are. She often integrates thoughtfully chosen music to support grounding, softness, and presence throughout the practice.
Emma is grateful to be teaching within the PYP community—a community that offered her belonging and support during her transition to Maine. When she’s not teaching, you can find her running, climbing or biking outside, and seeking out the best chicken wings in town.
