where do you see yourself in five years?

Watching PYP run as what we have dreamed for it to be. Watching my children be the humans they are meant to be.

Elizabeth April (she/her)

Elizabeth is co-owner/co-founder of The Portland Yoga Project with Jess Emilfarb. After many years of teaching and managing at other studios, she is realizing her dream of opening a studio of her own and building a community that values treating everyone—from teachers to people in the local community—with the utmost respect.

With guidance from several teachers over the years, including her heaviest influence from Annie Carpenter, Elizabeth offers yoga and barre classes and teacher trainings that are deeply rooted in alignment and functional movement. Her teaching aims to empower her students while keeping them safe and powerful in their own bodies. She believes that educating students leads to opportunities for every person to direct their own embodied experience.

She completed her 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training in Santa Monica, CA through YogaWorks in 2008 and later finished her 500 hour training through Down Under Yoga School in Brookline, MA in 2015. She also holds a 100-hour Barre Teacher Training certification from Barre & Soul in Melrose, MA, in 2014.

When Elizabeth is not at the studio she is running around Portland (and beyond) with her two wild boys. She is in collaboration with her kids in the experience of unschooling and is learning as much as they are along the way.
