What are the most important and informative parts of your identity/life-experience?

Being overweight.  Fat and superfat females face all sorts of issues; I could write a book on the issues, from fitting in (literally) to healthcare discrimination all the way down to not being able to find cute leggings.  To this day I still feel the effects of not looking like the societal ideal.  Losing weight changed my life, but it didn’t make anything “better.”  I’m still me, I just wear a smaller leggings size and am still what our society considers fat.  I decided a long time ago to live my life as if my body would never change again and it has helped me accept where I am and the changes of my body over time.

We all have bodies, they all look different and we are ALL valuable, amazing humans.  Our leggings size dictates nothing.  NOTHING.

Sandy Betz (she/her/hers)

Sandy believes that movement should be fun.  We can get strong and laugh at the same time.

Her classes are a place where everyone, from experienced athletes to absolute beginners; will experience challenge, support and most importantly lots of laughter. She is here to support you in your own fitness journey.

Sandy is passionate about sharing her love of fitness and the transformative properties of exercise with clients of all ages and fitness levels. Sandy’s fitness journey has taken her from the couch to Pilates, Barre and beyond.

She says that her own fitness journey began in a parking lot. At 5’1 and 360+ pounds the very idea of walking across a parking lot sometimes felt impossible. Many small changes led to big breakthroughs and she conquered that parking lot and her own self-doubt.

Sandy loves to learn more about the body and movement.  She completed her 200-hour YTT from Sacred Seeds Yoga School and is an ACE Certified Group Fitness Instructor and Size Inclusive Specialist as well as a Rasamaya certified barre instructor.  She has training in Pilates as well as the barre method BarSculpt and completed Elizabeth April’s barre training for Fitness Professionals.
