What is the #1 priority that you have when you teach a class?

I believe that we can only give to the world what we are first giving to ourselves, so my hope is that folks who take my class feel empowered, strong, capable, honored and worthy of the time and attention they are committing to themselves, and ready to share those vibes with their family and community.

Elly Lovin (she/her)

Elly has been wearing leg warmers and dancing around the house since the mid '80s. She studied classical ballet as a child and earned a BFA in Dance from the University of Iowa. Following her curiosity about both the world within and the world around her, she began her journey as a movement instructor in Costa Rica in 2008 and has taught yoga, creative dance, fitness and barre in Taipei, Chicago, NYC and Maine. Elly moved to Portland in 2015 and has worked with The Portland Ballet, Casco Bay Movers, Waynflete School, and in several public elementary schools. As a Maine Arts Commission Teaching Artist, she holds creative dance residencies for children around Maine, and is a two-time recipient of the MAC Dance Ed Grant. She dances and performs with Rose Hutchins/Ballet Bloom Project. Elly is currently working toward a Masters in Dance and Movement Therapy/Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Lesley University.
